Analytic Psychology was developed by Carl Jung. This was a lengthy and intensive process that recommends seeing people at least two times a week. His goal was to have people find balance between joy and sorrow as well as enable them to cope with pain and suffering they may be feeling. Jung’s theory concentrates on the concept of the psyche and the awareness of it from the client, which includes interventions, and exploration of a individual’s personality.
During this counseling, dreams and visions may be analyzed by the person running the session. Different methods may be used during this time such as creative activities, use of symbols, word association tests, and rituals if that is appropriate for the individual. The counselor/clinician and client must work together and have a trusting and comfortable relationship. Together they will establish a healthy balance between the conscious and unconscious part of a personality. Also during this time knowledge, meaning, and fulfillment in one’s life will be focused on. A need for wholeness, balance, and spirituality will be present. |
